Application guidance and tips

We appreciate that our application form is time consuming & isn't easy to complete. So you need to prepare well before filling it in.

The most important question

The Unilever graduate programme is highly competitive. So it's crucial that your application form is an accurate and compelling statement of your interest in and suitability for the scheme. If you're struggling to answer the questions, step back and ask yourself whether this is really the kind of career you want and are suited for.

Make a good impression

Fill out your application carefully as this is your first opportunity to make a good impression. Allow yourself plenty of time to complete it, and make sure you answer all the questions. The answers you give will serve as the basis for your interview, so keep a copy of your form and be ready to talk in depth about the points you raise.

Use examples

Be selective, concise and relevant in your answers. Think about what the question is looking for and try to use examples from all aspects of your academic, working and social life to convince us that you're ready for this type of role and responsibility.

Details we definitely need

Check that your cell phone number and email address are correct. These are our only way to contact you.

Clearly state your university. This is where we will schedule your campus interview. For example: UCT, UKZN (Westville, Howard College or PMB).

Number and list which functions you're interested in. For example, if your prefer Finance followed by Supply Chain, write 'Finance – first choice, Supply Chain – second choice'.

Warning against fraudulent internet recruitment activities

Our attention has been drawn to the fraudulent activities of persons posing as recruitment agencies or Unilever employees. The fraud involves sending people job offers, usually for expatriate positions, and extorting fees for visas and other documentation.

We would like to make it clear that Unilever never requires successful candidates to pay for documentation. If you receive a genuine job offer of a job with us, whether the offer is made directly by us or through an agency, you will not be required to pay any money towards administration fees. We also recommend that you do not disclose personal or financial details to anyone you do not know.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
