Unilever SA ice creams – Safe

Unilever’s first priority is to protect its consumers. Our products are manufactured strictly in accordance with the local laws and regulations in all countries that we operate in. Each and every Unilever formulation undergoes rigorous safety clearance procedures by our global Safety & Environmental Assurance Centre (SEAC). The safety testing procedures and processes strictly comply with international requirements.

As one of the founder members of the Food Safety Initiative, we are keeping a close contact with them and the Department of Health regarding this issue.

Unilever South Africa confirms:

·That Unilever ice cream products sold in South Africa, are manufactured in South Africa using locally sourced dairy ingredients.

·Unilever ice creams manufactured in South Africa, and exported to other countries are manufactured using dairy ingredients sourced in South Africa.

·That we do not source any dairy ingredients or products from China and we will continue with this policy going forward.

·That we have obtained assurances in writing from all our suppliers that use dairy ingredients, that neither they nor their suppliers are using any dairy sourced from China.

·Samples of dairy ingredients used in our ice cream products were sent to internationally accredited laboratories, and have been declared safe.

We assure you of our ongoing vigilance on this issue.
