Surf helping South Africans shine in their careers
SURF, the washing powder that’s committed to keeping you and your clothes shining is making a dazzling difference in the lives of South African job seekers in 2018. To celebrate SURF’s continued support and focus on helping South African’s shine in their careers through their ongoing School of Shine initiative (SURFshine.co.za), SURF is now also kicking off with their Shine With SURF Road Shows and competitions this month.
From the 6th October 2018 until December 2018, the Shine With SURF crew will be dazzling job seekers at various locations around Johannesburg to offer those on the job hunt the support they need to get a foot in the door for their dream job.
The activities include help making your CV shine, registering to find work online and dress for success tips, all the while, standing a chance to WIN one of various R30 000 Shine Kits which includes a shining new laptop, R10 000 clothing voucher plus R10 000 cash to help the winners shine for their job interviews. The Shine with SURF crews can also be spotted in Shoprite stores around Gauteng where fans stand more chances to WIN with SURF (see in store for details).
SURF has been helping you and your clothes shine since 1954 and with this long history of dedication to career confidence, has been able to touch the lives of thousands of South Africans.
The team at SURF believe that if your clothes shine, you can shine confidently and that looking your best is an important part of making a great impression at job interviews. SURF wants all their fans to dazzle their way into a dream job that they can be proud of. That’s why SURF started their School of Shine Initiative.
The School of Shine website is a platform that helps young people build career confidence through free online courses and inspirational content. Whatever stage in your career you are in, SURF's School of Shine will support you with practical tools and tips to succeed in the workplace. Check out the School of Shine online (SURFshine.co.za) for courses on how to be interview ready, career planning, shining at the workplace as well as financial freedom and budgeting.
“With a staggering 27.2% unemployment rate in South Africa, SURF believes that we not only can, but should, help job seekers shine for interviews. Through our School of Shine initiatives and Shine With SURF roadshows we can support young people to prepare for their careers to enter the market with career confidence,” said Jeffrey Madkins Brand Manager of SURF washing powder at Unilever South Africa. “SURF keeps your clothes shining, so you can shine, so your future can shine bright,” completed Madkins.
To help them on their social mission, SURF has partnered with the Yes 4 Youth employment services for their knowledge on how to prepare for job interviews as well as with Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator for their expertise with finding youth employment opportunities. Harambee successfully placed 50,000 young people in jobs between 2011 and 2017 and are partnering with SURF to place more in 2018.
