Product of the Year
For the fifth consecutive year, Unilever products have swept the board at the Product of the Year awards ceremony held in Johannesburg.
Unilever had 12 of its homecare, personal care and foods products selected as the best innovators in their categories by a sample of 5 000 independent consumers representing the South African grocery population.
"Unilever is very proud once again to have won in so many categories. It is great that the success of our product marketing and innovation is appreciated by consumers while we strive to be the best in a highly competitive market," said Marijn van Tiggelen, chairman of Unilever South Africa.
“At Unilever we strive to exceed consumer expectation whilst reducing our environmental impacts across the whole lifecycle of our products, innovation and technology will be key to achieving these reductions.”
Unilever’s winning products are:Female Skincare -Pond’s Flawless Radiance; Male Skincare - Vaseline Men Eventone Expert Face Care Range; Female Deodorant - Dove Invisible Dry; Lotion - Vaseline Total Moisture Range; Petroleum Jelly - Vaseline Men Petroleum Jelly; Power Cleaners - Handy Andy Power Cream Spray; Fabric Conditioner - Comfort Concentrated; Automatic Laundry - OMO Auto Washing Powder; Male Deodorant - Shield Men Xtra Cool; Flavourants - Robertsons Herbs & Spices Bottles; Handwash Laundry - OMO Handwash; and Laundry Bars - Sunlight Germiguard.
Product of the Year is the world’s largest organisation dedicated to recognising and rewarding product innovation. It has been inexistence for over 25 years and operates independently in 40 markets around the globe.
Preetesh Sewraj, managing director of Product of the Year, SA said the aim of the competition is to assist consumers around the world find the best new products.
“In many markets, some manufacturers create products that do not deliver on innovation and quality. Product of the Year allows companies to prove that their products are as good as their marketing campaigns claim they are."
“We go to 5 000 homes to chat to consumers face-to-face with regards to which products they believe deliver on innovation and consumer satisfaction.”
He said Unilever was a regular champion at the awards ceremony because of the company’s strong focus on product improvement and innovation.
Winning products receive the right to use the Product of the Year seal on their labels for a 12-month period.
