Unilever South Africa was certified as the number one company to work for by the Top Employer Institute.
For the first time in the history of the Top Employers SA Certification Programme Unilever obtained the highest score securing exclusive certification as:
- Top Employer South Africa
- No 1 employer in the FMCG sector and
- No 1 employer in the Manufacturing sector
The Top Employers Institute certifies excellence in the conditions that employers create for their people. Only companies that meet the stringent research criteria receive the Top Employers South Africa recognition.
Commenting on this award, Samantha Crous, Regional Director Africa & Benelux for the Top Employers Institute said, “Optimal employee conditions ensure that people develop themselves personally and professionally. Our comprehensive research concluded that Unilever South Africa provides an outstanding employment environment and nurtures and develops talent throughout all levels of the organisation. They offer a wide range of creative initiatives, from secondary benefits and working conditions, to performance-management programmes that are well-thought-out and truly aligned with the culture of their company.
In 2010 Unilever launched the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan which set high ambitions of doubling the size of its business whilst halving the environmental impact by 2020.
