Entries now open for the Unilever ‘Agents Of Change Awards’

“A successful agent of change recognises the opportunity for change, identifies the best approach, and makes the change.”

Johannesburg, 19 July 2016: Nominations for the first-ever Unilever Agents of Change Awards are now open. Previously known as the Flora/ADSA Award, the Agents of Change Awards aim to honour healthcare professionals who are driving initiatives which assist South Africans to eat better and lead healthier lives.

Potential candidates who are driving positive change in the field of nutrition have until 29 July 2016 to enter for a chance to win one of three prizes.

“Statistics have shown a rising number of South Africans struggling with health and weight management issues, increasing their risk of chronic and lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and some cancers. Now more than ever, healthcare professionals have an important role to play in changing the attitudes and habits of people to reduce these risks,” said Duduzile Mthuli, Nutrition Manager at Unilever South Africa.

“Through these awards, we aim to shine a spotlight on those who have a vision for the future and who are proactively looking at innovative solutions to improve the nutrition status of South Africans,” continued Mthuli.

Judged by a diverse panel of experts, the winner will receive R7,000 towards funding further work as well as an opportunity to be profiled at the 2016 Nutrition Congress taking place in Cape Town from 3 – 5 September. The winning entry will also be showcased in a special ‘Agent of Change’ catalogue, featuring recipes and highlights of progress made towards nutrition and sustainability, which will be available online and distributed to healthcare professionals at the Nutrition Congress.

“Nutrition professionals are involved in so many innovative and exciting initiatives. We look forward to receiving entries which showcase evolving healthcare and wellness trends whilst providing a platform for ‘change agents’ to get the recognition they deserve,” concluded Mthuli.
