Tweet to eat with Knorr

Be part of a global movement and #ShareAMealSA and KNORR will donate one meal per tweet or fb post to a local SA food charity

The 16 October 2016 is World Food Day and Knorr is partnering with United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to launch an awareness drive called #ShareAMealSA in South Africa. The campaign is part of a global movement enabling people across the world and in South Africa to help create a brighter future where food is more accessible.

With 25% of the world’s population (approximately two billion people) unable to access the nutrients they need to live a healthy life , Knorr global is encouraging the public to match its donation of 1 million meals.

Locally, Knorr South Africa has committed to donate one meal for every #ShareAMealSA social post on the Knorr What’s For Dinner Facebook page or twitter, on 16 October 2016 in support of World Food Day. Knorr will also be encouraging the public to donate by taking them to the Food Forward South Africa (in association with the World Food Programme) website.

Knorr South Africa is working with FoodForwardSA who collects surplus edible food and redistributes this food to hundreds of verified beneficiary organisations throughout South Africa. “One third of all food produced in South Africa is dumped in landfill, while more than 14 million people go hungry. Over the past year FoodForward SA has increased its assistance to NPOs nationally by 78% - a clear indication that the food insecurity problem is growing,” states FoodForward SA Managing Director Andy Du Plessis.

Antony Segal, Unilever Knorr Marketing Director explains their involvement with World Food Day: “As a leading food brand in South Africa, we can use our scale to help address the issue of food security. Together with the World Food Programme, Knorr is investing globally and locally in nutrition, giving more people the opportunity to reach their full potential and creating a community which believes in the importance of food being accessible to more people.”
