Aromat has won a Silver award in the Most Innovative Viral Campaign category in The New Generation Social and Digital Media Awards for the Aromat #ATasteofMzansi Virtual Dinner Experience. The campaign, executed in collaboration with The Hardy Boys, IN.PR and Avatar Agencies, began when the Aromat team hosted a Virtual Dinner with Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi. Together, with the Miss Universe team, Aromat brought joy, laughter and engaging conversations to South African consumers. The campaign not only excited the South African community; it also connected Miss Universe to the people, food and conversations that she had dearly missed.

The New Generation Social and Digital Media Awards announced their 2020 winners on Friday, 25 September during a 70-minute, live virtual awards ceremony. Founded in 2012, the New Generation Social & Digital Media Awards are the largest celebrated digital media awards in the country. Not only do they honour the South African creative agency teams for their innovative use of social and digital media, and cutting-edge use of online media and tools, they also acknowledge corporate companies and their in-house marketing teams, from across South Africa, for their work on campaigns that help promote their organisations and brands in ground-breaking ways. The Awards offer an array of exciting categories best suited to recognising today’s leading marketers - celebrating ingenuity, with a specific focus on results and insight-based success.

Stephen Paxton, the founder of the awards, says, “2020 has been all about change, innovation and maintaining positive mental attitudes. We saw greater focus on community engagement-based campaigns. The innovation shown by brands to capture audiences throughout the past 12 months, especially over the past six months during the lockdown, has been second to none.”
