Adding Flavour With More Herbs & Spices

A recent study by Andersen et al has confirmed what health professionals have always known!

Using herbs and spices to add flavor to dishes can make it easier for families to make healthier eating choices.

This study concentrated on those people who were already suffering from diseases of lifestyle i.e 88% of the sample suffered from hypertension, 63% from diabetes and had a mean BMI of 30.

At the end of the second phase of the study, in which the intervention group was counselled.

Given spices as well as cooking lessons, mean 24-h sodium excretion was significantly lower in the behavioral intervention than in the self-direction group (mean difference: – 956.8 mg/d) after sodium intake at screening was controlled for.
