One of the most widely consumed beverages in the world, especially in China, tea has an abundance of natural flavonoids which are known to have positive health effects – especially relating to ischaemic heart disease (IHD). Flavonoids have been known to have antithrombotic and anti-inflammatory properties and may reverse endothelial dysfunction. This study prospectively examined the association between tea consumption and the risk of ischaemic heart disease.
