Sale of Mrs Ball’s Chutney brand to Tiger Brands Limited
The deal was unconditionally approved by the Competitions Commission.
Unilever South Africa and Tiger Brands Limited announced on Friday 7 December 2012 a deal by which Unilever will dispose of the Mrs Ball’s Chutney brand to Tiger Brands Limited.
At the time we indicated that the deal was subject to Regulatory approval.
We are pleased to announce that the deal was unconditionally approved by the Competitions Commission, on 5 March 2013 and will come into effect on 1 April 2013.
A Transitional Services Agreement (“TSA”) has been entered into with Tiger Brands Limited for a period from 1 April 2013 to 31 May 2013.
During this period Unilever South Africa will continue to manage sales and manufacturing on behalf of Tiger Brands Limited as well as manage all logistical arrangements relating to the Mrs Ball’s products. So, during this TSA period, all things will remain unchanged and continue on a “business as usual” basis unless advised otherwise, by the Unilever integration team, who will be working towards a business cut-over date with the Tiger integration team.
From, 3 June 2013, all sales, manufacturing and delivery of the Mrs Balls product will be managed by Tiger Brands.
