South Africa gears up for the ultimate stain removal test to be broadcast on national television as Omo’s Fast Action washing powder pledges to remove tough stains faster!

Omo’s hand washing powder continues to live up to its promise to deliver fast and effective stain removal results every time. The trusted household brand is prepared to wash off against some of South Africa’s biggest brands during SABC 2’s popular series Muvhango.

The Omo Ultimate Showdownfeatures contestants chosen from all walks of life throughout the country going for cash or airtime worth R2 million. The Omo Ultimate Showdown is a colourful, vibrant, audience driven show aimed at achieving stain removal results faster than the competition.

The country’s newest exciting television game show is hosted by renowned Omo brand ambassador Nkanyiso Bhengu and popular soap actress Sophie Ndaba. It airs during the first ad break on SABC 2’s popular series Muvhango from September 8 until October 3 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9pm.

The twelve two minute episodes of The Omo Ultimate Showdownfeatures 24 contestants chosen from entrants in every province in the country, with contestants selected via the unique codes found inside the Omo 2kg Fast Action or 1.8 kg Omo Touch of Comfort packs.

During The Omo Ultimate Showdown, Omo brand ambassador Bhengu and much-loved television star Ndaba put contestants through their paces with a zippy, fast-paced delivery, aimed at pitting Omo washing powder against South Africa’s biggest brands.

Against a colourful backdrop of a blue screen with The Omo Ultimate Showdownemblazoned on it, contestants are given an anonymous choice of products to choose from some of South Africa’s biggest brands that go head-to-head with Omo which pledges to “Remove Tough Stains Faster”.

Andrew Mysell, Omo Marketing Manager at Unilever, says although the competition over the past year has intensified in the heavily contested washing powder market, Unilever is confident that its current formulation for Omo Fast Action, unveiled in September 2013, enables Omo to remove stains faster.

“We are confident that the concept of a fast-paced television game show in which consumers tell our story, would send a powerful message about Omo’s stain removal abilities, while at the same time, ensure that the brand engages with the people that love our brand,” says Andrew.

He says Omo remains an iconic brand in the country, and is still very much a part and parcel of South Africa’s history, and it has remained a popular choice with loyal consumers for over 50 years despite the influx of new brands.

“The Omo Ultimate Showdownreflects Unilever’s faith in the brand and through this initiative, we aim to ensure that South Africans from all walks of life are rewarded for being loyal consumers, Andrew adds.

“We are confident in our product and we want ordinary South Africans to take part in this unique test on television and encourage the nation to put Omo to the test at home,” concludes Andrew.

Dressed in a red-shirt and black jacket, the jovial Bhengu and Ndaba, also in a matching red top and black skirt, talked and teased, posed for cameras and then got down to serious business of counting down to The Omo Ultimate Showdown.
