Imagine a world without poverty. A planet with a stable climate. A global society that lives in peace.

On Friday, 25 September 2015, 193 world leaders will commit to 17 Global Goals to achieve three extraordinary things in the next 15 years. End extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice and fix climate change. The Global Goals for sustainable development could get these things done - in all countries, for all people.

After the United Nation adopts these goals on 25 September, it will take vigilance on behalf of every citizen in the world, to hold leaders accountable to their commitments.

We have 7 days to tell 7 billion people (as in the whole world).

If everyone knows about the 17 goals and the commitments made by their leaders, they will be empowered to work together to achieve them.

AR Rahman, Ashton Kutcher, Bill and Melinda Gates, G.E.M., Gilberto Gil, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Malala Yousafzai, One Direction, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, Richard Branson, Robert Pattinson, Robert Redford, Professor Stephen Hawking, UN Messenger of Peace Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Lopez, Ed Sheeran, Beyonc, Pearl Jam, Coldplay, Beyoncé, TalkFine, Gareth Bale, Gary Lineker, Mikel Arteta and Liverpool FC…

These are just some of the people who have already pledged their support for the Global Goals and who are reaching out to tell everyone!

Unilever believe that these goals can be achieved if government, business, communities and individuals work together. In fact, we are already working towards many of these goals through our brightFuture initiatives.

This is why Unilever collaborated with Global Citizen on Project Everyone to tell the world about the Global Goals by creating the song, ‘Tell Everybody’, which features Mafikizolo (South Africa), Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Diamond (Tanzania), Sauti Sol (Kenya), Toofan (Togo), Becca and Sarkodie (Ghana) and was produced by award-winning producers Cobhams Asuquo (Nigeria), David KING DAVID Muthami (Kenya) and Ellputo (Mozambique).

This catchy song will become the rallying anthem of the Global Goals campaign for Africa as our artists take centre stage to deliver this important global message.

“As artists we have the opportunity to reach so many people, and an obligation to give them more than music, more than entertainment but to educate and empower them as well. This is our gift and our privilege,” said Mafikizolo’s Theo Kgosinkwe and Nhlanhla Nciza.

The conversation has already started globally with 17 flags representing the 17 goals being raised in places as remote as the Himalayas.

On Thursday 24 September, action/2015 is organising a Global Day of Action, where thousands around the globe will call on the world leaders to light the way for a better future for mankind and the planet through prayer and public action.

In Johannesburg, thousands of citizens from different representative groups will form a unifying human chain around the Constitution Hill Precinct to show our local leaders that we, as civil society, will be watching them as they make commitments at the UN General Assembly on Friday. Mafikizolo will represent South Africa and raise the flag for goal number 8 – good jobs and economic growth.

We are all global citizens and have a duty to spread the word about the Global Goals and the potential impact they could have on our world.

Together, through our actions, we could be the first generation to end extreme poverty, the most determined generation to end injustice and inequality, and the last generation to be threatened by climate change.

We believe that all South Africans are ready for the challenge.

With this press release, we invite you to join the world’s biggest cast.

Use the props and instructions provided to create a ‘Tell Everybody’ dance video, based on the music video. Add your voice to the 7 billion by sharing your video and challenging others to create and share their own.

Your voice matters. We have only a few days to get this important and momentous message out into the world and you the media, have the power to share it.

These videos will become a digital tapestry, South Africa’s echo to the world, to let them know that we know about the Global Goals and we are ready to take action to create a brighter future.
