Unilever voted #1 FMCG and Manufacturing Graduate Employer of Choice

For the fifth year in a row, Unilever South Africa has been voted the No1 FMCG employer in the2015South African Graduate Employers Association (SAGEA)Employer Awards, which form part of The SAGEA Candidate Insights Survey 2015. The2169recent graduates, from 100 well-known employers across SA,also rated Unilever SA as No1 in the Manufacturing sector.

SAGEA strives to give its members access to the latest research, trends and surveys, which aim to enhance their ability to perform at their peak. To facilitate this, they conducted a Graduate Benchmark survey in March/April this year. Graduates ranked employers in the country in terms of whether or not they are employers of choice.

“We are exceedingly proud to be voted a top employer by young graduates, who are tomorrow’s leaders,” says Antoinette Irvine, Vice President Human Resources, “As a company that is over a hundred years old in South Africa, our employer brand evolves with the times to ensure that we remain relevant and attractive to current and future employees.”

Unilever will study and utilise the results of the survey in order to ensure continuous improvement and benchmarking. According to the survey, graduates are more likely to apply for employment at an organisation if it provides robust training and development opportunities, has a strong company reputation and offers long-term career prospects.

“The research shows that company-run career websites, career fairs and recommendations from family and friends continue to be popular channels that students use to learn about a prospective employer. Facebook and LinkedIn continue to be most popular digital channels of communication,” added Antoinette Irvine.

“Competition for top graduate talent is high and the results from SAGEA Employer awards provide organisations with an opportunity to evaluate their recruitment processes and improve,” concludes Irvine.
