Axe helps guys to look, smell and feel more attractive. It comprises a range of body sprays, deodorants, anti-perspirants, shower gels and hair products. First launched in France in 1983, Axe is now used by men in more than 90 countries, from the Americas to Asia.
Launched in 1967, Close Up is a clear gel toothpaste containing a mouthwash and micro whiteners to ensure long-lasting fresh breath and white teeth. It is sold in Brazil, Asia and South Africa, where it is among the most popular oral care brands and is positioned as a youth product.
Dove grew from a moisturising Beauty Bar into a global brand with a range of products: body washes, hand and body lotions, facial cleansers, deodorants, shampoos, conditioners and hair styling. Since it’s launch in England in 1895, Lifebuoy has evolved to become the world’s best selling, trusted germ-protection soap. Lifebuoy aims to bring better hygiene to communities all over the world. The brand actively promotes hygiene awareness by supporting Global Handwashing Day, and through their ‘Help A Child Reach 5’ and ‘School of Five’ campaigns. Since 2012, Lifebuoy has reached over 9 million South Africans with it’s life-saving message about the importance of proper handwashing.
Lux is a global brand, launched in 1925, whose range of products includes beauty soaps, shower gels, bath additives, shampoos and conditioners of the stars - from Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Aishwarya Rai, Katrina Kaif and Shu Qi. The product is available in more than 100 countries.
Pespodent is a leading oral care brand with a wide range of products, benefitting from Unilever’s long tradition of R&D in this field. In 2008 Pepsodent collaborated with the Indian Dental Association (IDA) and the World Dental Association (FDI) to help educate school children on the importance of regular brushing.
Pond’s is a skincare brand sold in an affordable price bracket. The brand has a long heritage, dating back to the 1840s when the first product was sold in New York.
Shield is a South African deodorant brand for men and women, offering a range of anti-perspirants and deodorants with formulations that last up to 48 hours. It was developed in 1908 by an Australian pharmacist and his wife and its products include aerosols, pumps, roll-ons, sticks and creams. Shield is also sold as Rexona, Sure and Degree around the world.
TRESemmé is a haircare brand offering salon-quality products. It has its origins in hair salons, dating back over 60 years, and now has a range of hair-styling products for use at home.
In 1859, Robert Chesebrough, a chemist from New York, visited the oil fields of Titusville, Pennsylvania in the US to research to what new materials might be obtained from the fuel. Over the next decade he perfected the formulation of Vaseline petroleum jelly before opening for business in 1870. Vaseline quickly became known for its ability to protect and restore dry and damaged skin, and over the next century it established itself as a skin product found in households around the world.
Men’s fragrance brand Brut was launched in 1964; in 1973 the now well-known BRUT 33 was launched as an everyday cologne. Brut products range from aftershave and eau de toilette to deodorant, anti-perspirant, shower gel and gifts. It is available in the UK and Ireland, France and South Africa.
Fissan is a baby care brand whose products include shampoos and moisturising creams. Fissan has over 80 years’ history as a baby care brand. The brand can be found in Greece and South Africa.
Impulse was originally launched in South Africa in 1972 as a ‘perfume deodorant’, the first product to combine fragrance with deodorant. In 1979 its popularity spread to the UK where it rapidly built up a 5% share of the deodorant market.
